Airport versus Downtown?

We're travelling from Dublin, Ireland to Billings Montana next August. As the elapsed travel time will be almost 19 hours to get there we are looking for a nice place somewhere near the airport to collapse into on arrival. Any recommendations?

Alternatively is the airport far from the city or would we be better off to head into the city so we can see some of the sites before we get picked up back at the airport at 4PM the day after we arrive?

Thanks a million for your help - UR

The Billings Airport is located on the rimrocks (a large cliff plateau) just above the city of Billings. I've always had good luck staying at either the Billings Inn (www.billingsinn.com), or Hilltop, both part of the Riverstone Hotel Group. Very friendly and inexpensive. They are downhill just off the main route (North 27th Street) from the airport to downtown, which are just minutes away from each other.

The city center of Billings is directly down the hill from the airport, a mile or two just minutes away. Many lodging establishments are directly on the main thoroughfare, North 27th Steet, in downtown Billings. You could try the Crowne Plaza Hotel on North 27th Street.
