Black Eagle or Beaverhead?

We are planning a Christmas ski trip to Big Sky.

We have never been before and we are wondering which property we should choose. Is either property a closer walk to the restaurants in town? Are there any advantages or disadvantages that we may not be thinking of? Thanks for any advice you can give us. We also need to decide if we will rent a car or not. Is it really necessary if we have a ski in ski out property?

Thank you.

Big Sky really isn't a town, it is more of a ski village. The Mountain Village, where the two properties you asked about are located, is mostly hotels and condos, with one main mall that has a few eating places. Some of the hotels have places to eat as well, and they are all in the same general area. Looking at a map, it appears that both places are about the same distance from the mall area, and you should be able to walk easily from either place. There are other eating places down the mountain in the Meadow Village, and you would need a car to get to those places from the Mountain Village. If you plan to stay at the mountain the whole time and eat in that vicinity, then I would say that you probably don't need to rent a car.
