looking for skiin/ski out near town

Looking to go to Big sky Jan 3rd. Contemplating where to stay. We generally like B&Bs or lodges with breakfast. Will also want to do some snow mobiling. Looking for suggestions. Whats the town like? Are the ski in/ski outs within walking distance to town, with restaurants? Whats the night life?

How far is the closet airport? Do you need a car?

The closest airport is in Bozeman, maybe an hour, I think?

If you want ski in/ski out you will not be able to walk to anything except for what's on the ski hill -- there are a few stores, bars and restaurants. You'll find a little nightlife but not much. But there's not really a big town of Big Sky, just more hotels, houses, condos down the hill where there are more restaurants and shops. I think that's fine though because you go for the skiing and scenery, and that is great at Big Sky.

From our vacation home rental in Big Sky you can walk in ten minutes to the ski base with restaurants. There is also a free shuttle that stops at the top of our road, a less than five minute walk, and takes you to the meadow for shopping and to the canyon where a few other restaurants are located. Our website is www.bigskyvacationrental.com
