Me and Mum in St Louis

Help!!

I am planning to drive to St Louis with my mother(72) in august. I can't decide if we should stay at a hotel downtown near arch or more in the center of the city. We will visit the arch, casinos, do some shopping and visit the forest park area. We will only be staying two full days so any suggestion you have will be helpful. Also I read about the mystery dinner is that something we should see one evening or is there somewhere else we should eat. We only have two full days. Also I've read many reviews about St Louis and some areas sound safter than orther could recommed some hotels the Westin is full and so is the Dury Plaza. I would like it to be very clean (my mother is a fanatic about bathroom cleanliness) and possibly a suite, am I asking to much! Well any help you can give me would be appericated. Also if there are any other attraction we should see or substitute for the ones I've listed.

Thanks

cj

If you would rather be more central and are a stickler for a super clean, nice room... I HIGHLY recommend the Ritz Carlton in Clayton. It is a bit more expensive, but is a GORGEOUS hotel. It is very close to wonderful eateries and is SMACK in the middle of town. 5 minutes from Forest Park, the Zoo, and the Art Museum. 10 minutes or so from the Arch. You will miss the Arch view and scenery of downtown, but gain a more central location, a far more supurb hotel, and an EPICENTER of fine dining. Sepends on your priorities.

Mystery Dinner? Look in the Lemp Mansion or the Rail Cruise America Murder Mystery Dinner.

By the way, if you stay in Clayton, consider dinner, drinks, or both at J. Bucks or Cardwells. Both excellent

Check out the Chase Hotel in the Central West End. It is in the middle of the city and adjacent to Forest Park. There are several restaurants in the hotel plus a movie theatre. I have not stayed there, but a couple of years ago we toured several of the rooms in the process of selecting hotel rooms for the Saint Louis University homecoming. They have some very nice suites, at least when we looked at them.

Also, the Central West End has quite a few restaurants, shops, etc. (we like Wildflowers, Culpeppers, Dressels, and Llwelyns). There is a metro-link stop in the West End near Barnes Hospital, although it would be a pretty decent walk from the Chase.

You will also be fairly close to Clayton which, as noted above, has a ton of excellent restaurants (try Remy's and Almonds).

Good luck and have a great trip.
