Hotel For Royals Game

I'm coming to Kansas City with my 15 year old son for a Royals game, and l'm looking for hotel advice. I can use points to stay for free at the Holiday Inn Sports Complex. It doesn't get good reviews, but I love the idea of not having to hassle with the car. If we stayed downtown, is there any type of convenient mass transit back and forth to the ballpark? We also plan on visiting the Negro League HOF. Any hotel suggestions, or any other insights will be appreciated!

It has been too long since I have been in the Holiday Inn for me to comment.

But I wouldn't worry about taking mass transit to the game. The joint stadiums handle 4-5 times larger crowds for the Chiefs games. Drving to and from a Royals game isn't an issue.

As mentioned above, it really isn't much of a traffic issue going to a Royals game. However, if you dont want to mess with the car, there is the Royals Express which can easily take you roundtrip from many downtown and plaza hotels for a nominal fee. The website has not been updated for 2007 yet, but I'm sure it will be soon.

Have you thought about the Holiday Inn at the Plaza? Although its about a 20 min ride to the stadium, IMHO, its in a much more desireable location next to the Country Club Plaza. Just a thought.
