Mid-day visit -- what to see, where to eat / drink

We are thinking of being in Hermann from late morning to late afternoon next Thursday or Friday.

Will things be open?

Where should we eat and/or drink lunch?

Nice place for a walk afterwards?

Anything we should be sure not to miss?

Thanks!

Everything should be open. Hermanhoff winery is downtown, Stone Hill is close. We usually have lunch at the Vintage at Stone Hill.

Vintage is always good. Another lunch possibility is The Cottage http://cottagerestauranthermann.com It has been my favorite restaurant for years, recently changed ownership but seems to be maintaining the qualities that made it special. It is a small house on a hillside in the woods, decorated with local artists' works, and the food is excellent.

For walking, the historic downtown makes for nice strolling. You can also walk across the Missouri River on the new hwy 19 bridge, which will even connect you to the Katy Trail if you want to do more walking.
