Where to eat in Branson

My sister and I will be in Branson Nov. 30 - Dec. 7. We are going to see some of the Christmas shows and SDC. What we need is recommendations on places to eat. Anyone have any suggestions? Also what is the name of the dimestore in Old Branson that everyone raves about?

I can't help you with the name of the dimestore, but we ate at a couple of places that we really enjoyed. One was Dick Clark's American Bandstand Diner, and the other was "The Baldknobber's Resturant". I'm not 100% sure that is the name, but we went to see their show, and ate at their resturant before their show. It was home cooking and very good. I wasn't very excited about going to this show, but I haven't laughed that hard in many, many years. I had a blast.

The store is called Dicks five and dime, It is on your left going to ward the beautiful branson landing.

It is part of the remains of the old down town,

There is a home cooking restaurant called Farmhouse restaurant,

ON the corner.

While you are down there , try out the new branson landing,

It has some really nice stores, and good restaurants like joes crab shack, garfields, waxy o' sheas irish pub, the white river fish house should be open by hten as well.

Stores like bass pro shop and belks anchor the mall on both ends,

And a fire and water show in the center, It sits on the banks of lake taneycomo......

You can also catch boat tours from the landing as well,

I think they have a christmas light show to.

And in the grand village shopping center there is a wonderful diner called the hard luck diner, It features a wait staff that sings to the room as they work.....

The food is good, and the singers are wonderful, It is a must do in branson. It is located next door to the grand palace theater on 76,

There is also some good shopping in the grand village ,

As far as christmas shows go, Andy williams is known as mr. christmas.

He is located in the moon river theater on 2500 w, 76 country blvd.

http://www.andywilliams.com

And the duttons have a great show, they were on the america's talent and did very well.

They also have a wonderful show called Island fire........

The Polynesian style show will share the history, culture, and traditions of Polynesia and Samoa.

And I like the legends in concert , They are impersonators,

But they are really quite good, and they do all their own singing,

For good food,

Besides the ones I have told you, For barbeque to die for,

try danna's BBQ,

they are located just off of the strip on Highway 165

Past shorty smalls,

And rails catfish on 433 Animal Safari Road , Is is just off of the 76 ,

I will suggest finding a color coded map of branson,

There are colored routes around 76 that help you to avoid traffic,

It can be really bad at certain times, like when shows are getting out.

Avoid the booths around town that offer tickets free or cheap,

they are TIME SHARES, and will bug you to death,

just tell them you are a local, and they will leave you alone.

To save on tickets there is one place to buy discount tickets to some shows, it is called branson 2 for 1 tickets,

They are not a time share and they just give you a voucher and you can trade them at the ticket office at the theaters for tickets.

The office is located across the fire station on 76,

http://www.branson2for1tickets.com/

here is the web address, so youcan find out what shows.

Here is a good web site that can also help you,

http://www.1branson.com

ask any question in the forums,

there are several locals , and even some of the entertainers on there, as well as branson lovers........

Not at all a fan of the strip or it's restaurants and shows, ... but will second the mention of Branson Landing as a place to seek refuge, and some decent meals (and rest - - the Hilton there is excellent).

Branson Landing, the area surrounding it, and the new airport under construction herald a new, less tacky, direction for the town - where convention business will begin to allow a little less low-brow type of entertainment to flourish.

It will be interesting to watch the dynamics of the town for the next decade or two ...

Dick's Five and Dime is the store.

I don't know where you are staying, but you might want to try Andy Williams' Moon River Grill in the evening or for lunch. It's a little more upscale, but Andy Williams comes in oftens and usually stops to chat with the patrons. That's always fun!

There are also many nice outdoor dining areas in the Branson Landing complex.

For BBQ, there's nothing like Danna's.

You have to eat at Billy Bob's Dairyland, which is on 76 and it's on with a gas station. They have the best food in Branson, no doubt and it's a great locals spot. Dixie Stampede also has great food and a show, so it's a two-in-one deal! RibCrib is good as well, and you get a LOT of food there. Mel's Hard Luck Diner is good, but there is usually a wait during lunch time and dinner time. The waiters sing to you there, but their food was okay. Uptown Diner is also good, but they will be selling out at the end of the year. They have the best mashed potatoes and gravy in Branson in my opinion!

The five-and-dime store downtown in called Dick's, and the time of year you are going, it will be crowded!! There is also a 5 and 10 store in Branson Landing, but I enjoy Dick's a lot better, they have more of the stuff that you would find in a 5 and dime store. Have fun!!

Yeah, I forgot billybobs dairy land.

Good burgers for sure, The uptown diner is not near as good as it once was,

The concept was good, but poor managment and slow service makes it a bit if a let down.

Be warned the dime store is very crowded, with people and stuff......

Take your patience..............

We had breakfast at "Mel's Hard Luck Diner" last week. Was very good. The best part of it was that everyone who works there sings. The waiters come around to the tables and sing while they are serving you. A fun place to eat!
