Restaurant recommendations

We are traveling through Tunica on our way to Florida and are interested in going to a local restaurant while we are in town. There are 6 in our group, including 2 teenagers. We are staying at Harrrah's so something nearby would be great. Any recommendations?

Thank you!

All the casinos will have buffets, which will over plenty of choices to suit everyone. IMHO, the best two are Harrah's and Sam's. The worsts ones that I wouldn't eat again even for free would be Bally's and Gold Strike.

Most of the casinos also have steak houses. I've been to a couple of them; Sam's and Harrah's. Again, IMHO, they weren't anything special. They'd be a good choice only if you have a comp.

Away from the casinos, I always recommend Blue and White in the actual town of Tunica, especially for breakfast, and Hollywood Cafe (no connection and not in the Hollywood Casino). Its near Hwy. 61 and the main road to Sam's.

Also, since you're in the area, I recommend checking out Memphis if you have time and trying some of our amazing barbecue. You can compare it to KC barbecue and let us know what you think. In Memphis, I'd recommend Rendezvous, Central, Corky's or Germantown Commissary.

I second the Hollywood Café. They have the best fried catfish!

I would suggest that you visit the Riverfront Museum while you are in Tunica. The museum focuses on The Mississippi River and the delta.

This blurb from today's Memphis Commerical Appeal might be of use to you.

"Tunica news

The 13,500 square-foot Buffet Americana opens May 31 in the Gold Strike Casino, the first new buffet to open in Tunica in almost five years. Word is that this one will be action-station-oriented and will offer numerous ethnic selections including Mongolian barbecue and Indian food cooked in the only tandoori oven in Mississippi. There will also be seafood buffets on Friday and Saturday, brunch on Saturday and Sunday and complimentary beer and wine Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and prices are $10.99 for breakfast, $13.99 for lunch, $20.99 for dinner and brunch, and $25.99 for the seafood buffet. You can dine for free from June 10 to 13 with your M Life card; get a card at Gold Strike."
