CALL BEFORE YOU GO!!!
WOW! Thank for posting Deb.
You're so welcome.
I hear Texas is dry as a bone. Wish we could ship you some of our rain! Stay safe with all those wild fires.
we were planning a wedding on the tunica queen for may 28 but with the river stage predictions we are wondering if maybe we should make other arrangements? any advise?
More info on the Tunica flooding and casino closings.
Deb, Texas is dry. We have gotten some rain in the DFW area in the last week which was great (The hail last night--not so great!).
Our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected by the awful storms in Ms,Tn and Alabama.
We are looking forward to our annual pilgrimage to Tunica, The Delta and the Sunflower Blues and Gospel Festival.
Nanaju, hope you get your much needed rain without all the storm stuff. Been storming here again today and is supposed to rain through Tuesday sometime. Memphis has been mostly spared the tornadoes this time. One hit my neighborhood in '08, so hoping they pass us by this time.
Enjoy your upcoming trip.
Whats the latest for the casinos in Tunica??? We have resverations for 6/4. What are the chances they will be open??
Well, Gold Strike sent me an email about the closings and said they expect to be closed about 3 weeks. However, an exec for one of the casinos (think it was Horseshoe) said on the news last night that they've been told 3 - 6 weeks.
They started blowing up a levee near New Madrid, MO yesterday to relieve some of the pressure and to flood out some farms to save some cities. That should have a positive affect. Definitely keep checking with your hotel.
Just heard on the local news that the casino tower hotel at Harrahs now has about 6 feet of water in it and the river is several feet from cresting. However, the local paper says none of the actual casinos have any damage yet as they float and have been sand bagged and otherwise barricaded.
