Driving Southern States

Hey all - looking at planning a trip to East coast, incorporating the great South. Am planning on driving from Florida to Alabama, New Orleans, Memphis & Nashville. Thinking to spend 2 days in each area. Is this possible or stupid?? How long will the drive take between each port? Keen for your thoughts - not sure if I should fly/train some of it for speed. Not wanting to spend all of the holiday behind the wheel, but want to ensure I see the country side of the USA! Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Hi Downunder,

My suggestion for your route would be Florida, Alabama, Nashville, Memphis and then New Orleans. I know nothing about Florida, Alabama or Nashville. I can give you suggestions about Memphis to NOLA.

If you are a fan of "The Blues", you might want to travel Hwy 61 from Memphis to Vicksburg. The Mississippi Delta is the birthplace of "The Blues".

Please let us know what your interests are so we can be more helpful.

have Fun planning your trip!

You may want to drive from Florida to Mobile, Ala, then on to the Mississippi coast, then on to New Orleans. You will find plenty to do and see. Make sure to plan on staying at one of the casinos on the Mississippi coast, take Hwy 90 along the Ms coast for the view. You will eat like a king !!!!
