Golf trip to Biloxi?

My husband and I live in California and enjoy golf holidays combined with seeing the USA. We are considering a one week trip in late May to the Biloxi area. We enjoy scenic drives, historic sites, good food, interesting cities and small towns and reasonably priced golf at nearby courses. For those familiar with this area, does Biloxi sound like good spot for us? Thanks for any input and info.

There are 15 golf courses in or near Biloxi. There's about 30 miles along # 90 along the beach that includes Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Gulfport, Biloxi and Ocean Springs. There are plenty of restaurants and lots of fun places. I think there are about 11 casinos. Enjoy your visit.

The oldest golf course in Mississippi, built in 1908 is The Great Southern Golf Club. It's located right on Beach Blvd in Gulfport and is about a 5 minute drive from the hotels, casino resorts and condos for rent. The greens fees are around $30-$35 which includes cart and 18 rounds. There are also some very beautiful courses such as Grand Bear, but the're more expensive.

I suggest you go to the visitors center in Biloxi which is located across the steet from the historic lighthouse on Beach Blvd. Make sure you visit the Jefferson Davis home and presidential library also on Beach Blvd. Also, take the tour train through town and journey through Biloxi, one of the oldest towns in America. As far as restaurants go, Biloxi, Gulfport and Ocean Springs have so many wonderful restaurants serving southern cooking, local seafish and many with outstanding water views.

Please let us know how your trip went as it will help others to who may want to visit our wonderful town.

If you want good local eating you have to go to Half Shell Oyster House. There are two. One in Gulfport (neighboring city to Biloxi) and one in Biloxi. We go to the one in Biloxi. It is right off Hwy 90, (jBeach Blvd.) about a block up on Lamuse Street. Across from the Hard Rock Casino. Really good food. And while you are in that area, even if you dont gamble, you have to stop and go in the Beau Rivage Casino & Resort. WOW What a beautiful place to see. Go up to the pool and look out over the Gulf. It is breath taking. Hope you enjoy Biloxi. It is a GREAT hidden destination!

Great Southern Golf course is horrible. It was built in 1908, and I believe they have the original greens. If you play golf, don't go here. If you own a goat take it here to eat.
