December 2006

My wife and I had spent 6 consecutive Christmas holidays in Biloxi and stayed at the Mazeala RV park off 10 for 1 or 2 weeks. We missed it last year. What do you think we should expect this year? Sounds like the casinos are getting up and running. We always liked the feel of Biloxi, in addition to gambling and eating, and suspect that part of the Biloxi experience may be gone. Any thoughts?

It will be a long time before Biloxi has a new "normal." To give you an idea of trailer parks, most, if not all, are full of FEMA trailers and will be for around 2 years. Sorry for that bad news.

Yes, some of the casinos are open, but smaller than before as they have moved into their hotels in order to operate. Expect the Beau to open this summer and it is going to be FABULOUS. For the others, we shall wait and see, but local officals are calling Biloxi a mini-vegas. Much of the beach properties are being sold to condo developers, so expect a different look when you visit.
