There's a local favorite, Keys Cafe, north on Larpenter & Lexington. There's also a few nice options west on Como Ave - Muffelettas & Colossal Cafe & Finnish Bistro. That's a nice little pedestrian area with a few quaint shops. I'd probably go with the 2nd option, as then you'll have 3 places to choose from.
I second Key's. good location for Como too
I 3rd Key's, it is really good and this location doesn't get as packed as others. But, beware that it can get busy on the weekends. If it's more like Brunch, you might want to check out Senser's in Roseville (I35 & Hwy 36). Especially on gameday.
Few other options.
I've heard nothing but good things about Colossal Cafe in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood of St. Paul. About 10 minutes from Como Park and it's a wonderful neighborhood.
I love The New Louisiana Cafe on Selby at Dale. Great place for breakfast and maybe 10-15 minutes from Como.
Another one of my favorites, and also 10 or so minutes from Como.
Finally, there is a wonderful little coffee shop/restaurant right in the Como Park Pavilion. It's more a take your tray through the line type of place but for you it's a perfect location!
Sully is on the mark with Louisiana Cafe at Selby/Dale. First rate breakfasts. Easy / fairly quick to get to Como from there as well.
Keys ok, but my dw doesn't see it as two thumbs up.
Finnish Bistro also a good one.
Traditional diner breakfasts at Flameburger out Rice Street.
Also pretty good breakfasts at Schroeders (Dale at Front)
TinCups at Rice & Maryland also has breakfast, as does the former Deans Tavern on Rice between Larpenteur and hwy 36.
I was never quite taken with the food at the Como Pavilion on the lake, but the atmosphere and location are good, and it's right in the park.
