Resorts around Minneapolis

My family might be going to Minneapolis around spring break. I am interested in spending a couple days at a resort that is close to Minneapolis. Ideally, I would like something with an indoor pool and lots of family friendly winter activities.

The Lutsen Resort looks nice but is a little too far for our families taste.

If anyone is familiar with DC area resorts, I am hoping to find something like a Seven Springs or Massanutten. Thanks!

When is your spring break? You mentioned wanting to do "winter activities." If you are planning on arriving mid March I wouldn't plan for winter activities as the snow will be on the melt. Snowmobiling and skiing are typically over by then except for in the Lutsen area. As Seven Spring and Massanuten are ski resorts I'm assuming you are looking to Down Hill ski. Yes, Lutsen is a nice place to stay and ski, but as you said it is a distance. The Arrowwood in Alexandria is a fine place and is a couple hours from Minneapolis but there will not be a great deal to do at that time of the year. It does not offer down hill skiing but has a small waterpark.

You may wish to look at driving 2 hours to Wisconsin Dells. They have some excellent waterpark resorts. Which beat anything we have in Mn.

What about Breezy Point Resort? It's about 2 hrs 20 min from the cities and has:

Ice fishing

Skiing and tubing

Skating rinks

Snow golf

What about Grand Casino Mille Lacs...in Onamia. It is less than a 2 hour drive from the metro area...great pool, and depending on the weather and what is left of the snow, activities in the area. Nice rooms, inexpensive, too...assorted kinds of restaurants, and just a short distance to Brainerd and other areas for shopping and family activities.
