Public Transportation from Duluth to Hibbing

Does anyone know if there is any transportation service between Duluth and Hibbing? We are thinking of attending Dylan Days in Hibbing but would like to spend a couple of days in Duluth also.

We are coming in from New York and do not drive so a car rental is out. If there is no bus service, has anyone heard of hiring a cab? for the trip?

It's ironic since Greyhound Bus Lines started in Hibbing, but they don't go there.

Taxis are kind of rare in northern Minnesota, but you could try contacting a taxi company in Duluth to see if they would take you to Hibbing.

There is no public transportation. A taxi would be VERY expensive.

Though I'm not speaking from personal experience, taxi would seem very expensive. Google Maps says one way trip is 75 miles from Duluth to Hibbing. Though a quick Google search of Duluth taxi companies didn't find much, let's estimate a conservative $1.50/mile for taxi service...$112.50 taxi fare one way plus any tip you wish to offer. Who knows if you can even get a taxi to pick you up in Hibbing at all that would drive back to Duluth.

Is a car rental absolutely not possible? Even if $50/day rental fee, you're saving considerable dollars to rent a car.

This has got to be over an hour drive. Just a wild guess but I would imagine you better be prepared to offer a taxi at least $200+ or something to get them to drive out to Hibbing and back from Duluth, if they even do that. Hibbing would be considered in the same region of the state as Duluth but is far from being considered a neighboring town.

I forgot about Arrowhead Transit. They do travel from Hibbing to Duluth on Fridays.

Here's a link:

arrowheadtransit.com/schedules-by-county/

Look for Hibbing under St. Louis county.

It probably wouldn't work for your situation, but it's worth looking into.

as Bob Dylan would say: "Thanks evrabuddy!".

I did call one of the Duluth Taxi companies and they said 2.00 per mile so about 150.00 before the tip. It sounds like we will fly direct to Hibbing and not make Duluth this time. We attended the 2006 Dylan Days in that manner and did have a wonderful time (including a visit to the Greyhound museum).

It looks like a brief Friday morning daytrip to Duluth might workout based on the arrowheadtransit website, arrive Duluth at 10:00am and leave at 1:45pm that afternoon.

Hibbing does have a taxi service. Not all night long. but the majority of the time. There is a bus service available also called Arrowhead- that will pick you up at your address and for pennies can make it to Duluth. The airport is about 5 miles east, but that must of already been taken into consideration...LJ

LJay, this post is three years old, so the OP has already done this trip. Welcome to TA, though! :)
