What are the rules on bringing duty free alcohol into Oman 1 litre spirit?
And there is a Duty Free on Arrival after Passport control and before luggage carousel.
Booze is unavailable outside of hotels and expensive in them (see Shangri-La reviews) so do stock up.
I was gallivanting through Oman in 2009 and back then beer at Sur Beach Hotel was quite cheap. They served 1/2 L cans and the hotel bar was full of inebriated Arabs watching the champions league. First floor had a stage with a Filipino cover band. All in all a great recipe for a hilarious evening.
We found a similar place in Nizwa so there's really no need to sit in a boring Hilton or Crown Plaza if you want to have a beer.
But yes, do stock up as well. Makes the 12h bus ride from Muscat to Salalah a lot more bearable.
But on the airport-website also is written:
"Any items over these allowances must be declared to customs"
What will happen, when I declare 5 bottles of wine? Do you know how much the duty is?
As far as Alcohol concern, you cannot carry more than the allowed quantity. Customs will seize the excess quantity with a warning. Avoid if you don't want trouble.
OK, thank you. So maybe I misunderstood this sentence on the airport-website.
I would not bring more alcohol, I only was curious.
There is a DF on arrival after passport and before luggage carousels.
The two of us bought 4 bottles of wine and a litre of Bombay Sapphire = 4 litres, our combined allowance.
