heading to TC in November! (Ideas please)

It's my birthday and someone told me that TC was a great place to go. I am looking online but I need some help. Since it's not summer. I don't think I want to stay by the water. More so closer tp shopping and things we can do. Any hotel ideas would be great! Also What are some things we can do at this time of year? We are both in our mid 20's.

Any advise is welcome. I want to know everything

- good shopping

- places to eat

- things to do

- hotels

Thanks a bunch

TC is a great place to go and, while November may be a bit chilly, staying on the water is still a good thing. Prices in November will be better than summer. You're never too far from the mall or downtown shopping, so location isn't a big problem... and there are plenty of fine restaurants. For starters: Check out the Grand Beach, Park Place and Holiday Inn for close to downtown... the Fairfield and Courtyard for close to the mall. Restaurants: Apache Trout Grill, Hanna, Stella (and a ton of others). With a little more information on your price range/preferences, I can get more specific. Enjoy your planning.

I plan on going Nov 21-the 23rd.I don't want a very expensive hotel. But something nice comes with breakfast. It's so hard when you read reviews and people have 2 different opinions of a place.

What type of shoipping is in or near TC? Any Outlets? What else is close by we can do at this time of year?

Thanks so much for your replies..

We also are heading up in mid Nov. for the wine trail : michiganwines.com/calendar.php…

We like to be near dining / Bar's so we booked park place.

Any ideas on a unique / local bar or restaurant ?

or any Must Do's ?

There is a small outlet mall on US31 South..... It is close to the mall and Kolhs. There is not too much up there. Also at the Old State Hospital Build 51 (where Stells is) there is a lot of shops in there that are different/fun. Downtown has a lot of little fun stores. You could also travel up the peninsula.... there is fishtown (Leland) that has a lot of cute shops as well as Glen Arbor.

Parkplace is a nice place to stay for downtown action..... The top of the park has a lounge that sports a piano bar with dancing (FUN). Minerva's (parkplace restaurant) has good food. There are a lot of other close bars and restaurants also to the parkplace (downtown).... This is where you will find the non-chain places mostly.

Food/Drinks: Hanna's, Stellas, Red Gingers, 310 (think it is called firefly now... really good sushi). The Catch (new), Blue Tracker (great mini burgers). There are also places for more lunch style also.... Poppycocks, Cousin Jenny, Bubba's (breakfast lunch and dinner), Mustards, Chef's Inn, Grand Traverse Pie Co. Breakfast: Omelette Shoppe, J&S.

Bars: Well... there is U&I, Dillingers, Bootleggers, left brain brewery is popular also. These are bar dont really have any entertainment.... just social and drink (bar food).

Bars w/ Entertainment: There is Kilkennies Irish Pub (below North Peak) fun place with live entertainment... Fun place! Loading Dock, Union Street Station, Shimmers (dancing in the Holiday Inn Hotel).

The above is downtown only.... There is a ton of other things and places to go.

Hotels.... Inexpensive near downtown... Sierra Motel is close and not too bad. Okay rooms. Holiday Inn might not be bad. I would do a cheap hotel search.

Good luck and have fun to the both of you!
