Which beach town?

My husband and I are coming up for a few days (probably Thursday- Sunday) in august. Trying to decide which town to stay in. We are looking st. Joseph to grand harbor, would love to be on a beach, but not a deal breaker.

Which town do you think has the best beach to just spend a relaxing day? Also would like to spend some time on some outdoor activity like hiking, riding the dunes, or kayaking.

Then another day seeing a few wineries and maybe a round of golf.

Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Experienced with South Haven and Saugatuck. Golf courses are plentiful.

South Haven is nice for a weekend getaway and has a beautiful beach close to downtown.

Saugatuck easily has a week's worth of stuff to do plus Fennville winery, sand dunes, and golf close by, but fewer beachfront places to stay unless you look at a vacation rental.

for what you're looking for, saugatuck, south haven, grand haven will do. st joe is great too, but i usually recommend it for families with kids. nevertheless, ALL have top notch beaches, tho saugatuck is not right on the beach like the others, but it is in close prox to commercial dune rides..... also, all have watersports rentals such as kayaks, SUP's etc...... for a much more laid-back experience, consider union pier. the inn at union pier looks pretty cool........

South Haven! 2 large beaches (North Beach and South Beach) and plenty of restaurant and hotel options.
