grey wolf lodge absolutely horrible

the owner is a rage filled chauvinist pig!! he intimidated us and made my mom cry. we just wanted to get away for 1 night i never expected the owner to scream yell throw thing at us and call me names refuse a refund or even a partial refund. i was told i was stupid and needed to learn how to read because i requested towels. apparently asking for more than 1 item is not allowed. we left after only a couple hours and had to make last second arrangements because we did not feel safe as long as he had the keys to our room and the police can do nothing although they say "this is not anywhere near the first call we have gotten for the exact same reasons" and "he knows the law well enough to get away with it"

as long as you are in Manistique it is ok to call people names scream and yell and get in someones face in a threatening manner and the police say "There is noting to be done about it" the officer I spoke with told me to write a review. seriously i do not feel safe and the only advise they can give is get anther room and write a review? wow good work all! I will never ever go to Manistique again in my life (besides court to try and get a refund)!!

I don't believe that you can characterize everyone in a city because of one jerk that runs a hotel. I also believe police anywhere would have to witness such an incident to be able to make an arrest, if it is even an arrestable offense. Yelling, screaming and being a jerk is not against the law unless you are actually threatened. Unless an actuall assault/battery (with physical evidence) took place, it is your word against his. In most locations I doubt police would even respond.

There are several similar reviews already on this site that might have saved you some grief if you read them ahead of time. Avoiding Manistique will not mean you don't end up with similar treatment in Green Bay, Chicago, LA or any other city. Personally I would consider it a lesson learned about the travel world and move on with life.

Absolutely not It was just that the police would not help even as an escort so that we were at least safe I felt in fear of my safety and that of my friends and family they would not even come get a report or talk to the guy at all. The police say this happens all the time and basically... to bad and fend for yourself. If the police cant help someone or even take a report when matters like this arise.. how safe are you really they will not even come to make a report unless you have been physically attacked with a weapon other than that go to the station call on the phone and then the guy inside will open the door and let you know that sucks.. that is how we do things around here come back if he actually hits you? wth is that? I believe there are good people there I just didn.t feel safe and the police were of no assistance in this matter. I mean really I just wanted to file a report in case something more happened he had threatened me and I think I should feel safe anywhere i go and if not the police should be involved.

I travel a lot and I live in milwaukee where it is illegal to curse, scream, threaten and throw things at people. we call it disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and threatening the safety of others.

I do understand they could not make an arrest but I thought they would at least make a report or come out. I believe I have the right to feel safe no matter where I am and if not; the police should be able to help.

I am sorry you had such a horrible experience at this motel.

The guy obviously needs some serious help.

Be sure and read reviews on motels on TA before making reservations. There were several negative reviews stating the same type of trouble you had. I wish you had been able to access these before staying there.

Better luck next time.

Sounds like someone from Manistique (chamber of commerce, police, mayor...)needs to have a talk with this man, though I agree with Tev, it doesn't sound like he is breaking any laws.

thank you but the police refused to talk to him or even file a report

andactually the only thing that can be done( i m being told) is to write a review find somewhere else to stay and file a court claim (which is not easy since I live so far away.). I just believe in public safety which there is no room for in that town and nothing to be done about it... NEVER AGAIN!!!

Are you talking about the Grey Wolf Lodge on Highway 2 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan?

That would be correct, but note this post is almost four years old and the OP has not been back to TA since.
