Thank you to all who helped us navigate through all the things to do, places to eat in Traverse City and neighboring cities of Highway 31!
Just a little background. We are 2 couples traveling together. We have lived in Toledo for the past year...our good friends flew out from California to see the Midwest sights.
Our first night we picked the City Flats Hotel in Holland, MI. We were intrigued that this property is a LEED Gold Certified Hotel. The hotel did not disappoint! From the modern design and the comfortable beds...it was a great start to our holiday.
Dinner tonight was Everyday People Cafe in Douglas, MI. Douglas is a quaint historical town. We shared the mussels from Prince Edward Island. They were succulent. The foie gras was delicious but not what was anticipated. 2 of us had the special for the night...smoked ribs. They were very good, but the quantity of a whole rack escaped our notice and was way too much for an entree unless shared. The chicken and gnocchi was amazingly unique!
The next day I had arranged to go up to Grand Haven, MI for breakfast and to see the waterfront. But we decided to make a detour to Saugatuck, MI to enjoy the eclectic mix of local artisan work. It did not disappoint. There were touristy places to indulge those that want some souvenirs and plenty of unique works from local artists displaying their artwork, glassware & jewelry designs. \\
We continued on to Traverse City.....
We left many things untouched in this area...and look forward to coming back.
