Drury probably has the best, even if by slight numbers, overall reviews. The Bavarianinn certainly seems the tourst destination resort. Having never needed to stay at any nearby hotels i cannot speak from first hand knowledge. The area of the Bav is charming with the river, Riverplace, and the covered bridge. Either one of those two are certainly high stars on reviews, though there are of course other options as well.

check out the Marv Herzog Hotel and see if you can get a room overlooking the Cass River instead of overlooking Main Street

We have stayed at Fairfield Marriott, Drury Inn, Bavarian Inn, and Marv Herzog Inn. The Bavarian Inn was our least favourite (too pricey for dated rooms and a longer walk downtown). The other three are very similar. Choose the one that offers the best rate for your date.

The best hotel in Frankenmuth depends on whether or not you have kids. If you have little ones, the Zehnder's Splash Village or the Bavarian Inn Lodge will be fun due to pools, water parks, etc. Lots of things to do. If you are traveling for a romantic get-away, the Marv Herzog is right on the river with balconies and wine nights.

If no kids, try the Holiday Inn Express. Right across the street from all the stuff. Frig & coffee in room & quiet. We checked out all the others & for the price diff, it worked very well.
