Flint "Be a tourist" event. Will you be going?

On July 20, 2013 Flint will be having an event where you can visit a bunch of locations for just a dollar (with bus rides included). From the event website is the following paragraph:

Participating Greater Downtown Flint Area attractions: Riverfront/Dorms, The Capitol, Whaley Historic House Museum, Flint Institute of Arts, The Whiting, Longway Planetarium, Sloan Museum and Buick Gallery, Flint Farmers’ Market, Carriagetown Antiques, St. Paul’s Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Matthews Church, Greater Flint Arts Council, Applewood, U-of-M Flint Recreation Center and more.

In my opinion the best places to go on this tour are: Whaley house, Sloan Museum, Applewood, Capitol Theater. These places are rarely open or rarely open for free admission. I have been to all of these locations before, but never for practically free in one day.

Where will you go?

I really enjoyed last year's event and am looking forward to exploring Flint's hidden treasures and architectural tour for just a dollar. Wow!

Sounds like a wonderful day and a wonderful way to highlight the cultural opportunities in Flint. Flint doesn't always get the best press. I hope this event allows the city to shine not only for its residents but for those who may not know of the treasures of this great American industrial town.

I'm really hoping that the Flint Farmer's market will be hosting a "behind the scenes" type of tour.

Just a reminder...

Flint's "Be a Tourist in Your Town" is TOMORROW, Saturday, July 19.

Be sure to visit the website:

https://www.flintandgenesee.org/

Pre-register because there are a limited amount of passes with goodie bags*

*Last year they had goodie bags with water bottles, snacks and local discounts. These were included with your dollar admission (a great deal).

Another note: Tonight, (Friday, July 18, 2014) There is a "Taste of Flint" at the New Flint Farmer's Market. You can sample foods from all of Flint's downtown restaurants for $15.)

Web info: https:/…

Also on Saturday, head to the Flint Public Library for the Michigan Storyteller's Festival

Yeah... my old cell phone and the newer version of TA don't get along. Now I only can submit Forum stuff while on a PC and not on my phone...bummer!

If you like events like "Be a tourist", Port Huron will be having an event this Saturday.

that really sucks. I was wondering what happened to you. I never use a PC and phone is at least 10 years outdated too. Lol. God willing, I will continue to be able to post a little while longer yet. Hopefully you can upgrade your cell phone soon. Thanks for the Port Huron info. Sad to say, except passing by on 69, i have never been there. Looks like a nice town.

Just a reminder... Be a Tourist in Flint is THIS SATURDAY. I'm hoping the weather won't be too hot and muggy...but if it is... there are lots of indoor things to do in air conditioned comfort.
