Ah yes...winter has come to the Keweenaw

There is at least 10 inches of snow on the ground, and more on the way!! The local xc trails are "rock condition", but that will change any day now and the trails will be groomed.

It came fast too. On Thanksgiving it was 54 and I went for a running in shorts, and the next day I was using my snowblower.

With only a light dusting yesterday all skiing is still stopped. I've never seen it like this, where it snowed enough to groom the ski trails, and then it melted.

And winter is still here...338 inches so far! More in the forecast for this week. Although the ski hills and xc trails are closed you can still snowmobile and crust ski.

That's incredible. How are you all staying sane this winter? We're whining about it being in the 40s/50s for highs--now I feel totally wimpy!

It's not that the grass is greener elsewhere..it just gets greener sooner than here! :)

I can't imagine what your grass is going to look like when it comes out from under all that snow! We had continuous snow cover for 90 some days and our grass still hasn't really recovered. Another reason I dislike lawns.

ST ~ Lots and lot of ice on the lake. There were ice shoves reported at Traverse Bay, earlier this week, that damaged some camps. First that's ever been seen up here that I know of. Shows how much ice is still on the lakes.
