lots of questions

We will be staying at the Comfort Inn in Plymouth. Are there any good, inexpensive places to eat in walking distance? Is this hotel in the main part of town? Are the night time ghost tours still going on? Any recommendations on which one to do with kids 8 & 11? We will be there for 7 days starting July 3rd. Also, are there any special activities on the 4th? thanks

Comfort Inn is located on Route 44, about a mile west of the waterfront. It's not considered ground zero in Plymouth but certainly close enough to the waterfront that I can't see it being a problem. You will have a car, correct? There's a McDonalds, Burger King, D'Angelo's sandwich shop all within walking distance. I'm pretty sure there is a chinese place and a pizza joint right near the Comfort Inn as well. For everything else, you'll have to head down to the waterfront. Wood's Seafood at the town pier is a good spot for some good, reasonably priced seafood.

Ghost Tours will be available. I believe you meet the black hearse over near Plymouth Rock.

Don't forget about whale watching, lobster excursions, pirate cruises, Jenney Grist Mill, Plimoth Plantation, MayflowerII, and spending a day or two at a beach like Whitehorse or Scusset if that interests you and the kids.

I believe a couple of Tall Ships are scheduled to visit Plymouth from the 3rd. to the 6th but due to budget cuts, that may not happen. If they do show up, they'll be docked next to the Mayflower. Plymouth will be having 4th of July Fireworks, so head down to the waterfront for that.

Plymouth will certainly keep you busy for 3-4 days, and if you run out of things to do, Cape Cod and Boston are within easy striking distance by car.

Here's some links if you haven't already browsed through them.

Comfort Inn is not in the downtown and actually on a busy street...my advice would be to cancel your reservations and try to stay at Best Western/Cold Spring, Radisson or John Carver Inn, all in walking distance of downtown.

Comfort Inn has a bit of a "shady" reputation and behind the hotel is a housing project called Algonquin Heights that is a known crime area.
