Clamming

As a kid, I did this on Cape Cod once. Can I show my daughter how to do it on an early Sept trip to Gloucester? Any tips (I don't remember how we did it!)

If you are going to dig for soft shelled clams (steamers) then you may need a license, although it used to be kids under a certain age didn't need a license, but the quantity they could take was limited. I no longer know if this is still the case ... it would be worth calling Gloucester city hall or and asking for information.
