Looking for a reasonably price inn/ hotel

My boyfriend and I are going white water rafting in September. We are both in our 50's and are looking for a place to stay overnight near Charlemont. He is not a B&B kind of guy, so am looking for something a little more upscale. Sharing a common bathroom is out of the question. Would also like a place that has some attractions near it. Would prefer to stay east of Charlemont. Thanks.

There's not a lot out near Charlemont beyond B&Bs and motels. The Deefield Inn has been under renovations but their Carriage House is up & running. They have reduced rates because of the renovations. All rooms have private baths. There is also a Hampton Inn in Greenfield.

I'd encourage you not to rule out B&B's. Many of them can be upscale inns and far nicer than motel options. Check out Deerfield options. There are a couple of nice ones reviewed on TA.

If you want to travel a little bit further (but still on your way home), stay in Northampton. It's a really great place to spend a night wandering around, bar hopping, great restaurants, etc. The more I think about it, I'd really encourage that. It is a fun and romantic place. Stay at Hotel Northampton. http://www.hotelnorthampton.com/
