Walking distance to the village?

We are staying at the Pleasant Bay Village very soon. Does anyone know if it is within walking distance of any restaurants and the centre of the town? Thanks

You may want to consider getting a town beach parking sticker for the week. This will give you access to all the Chatham beaches. The stickers are $60 for the week. The Atlantic side beach (Lighthouse beach)- the water is very chilly, big surf, but the Nantucket sound side beaches have much warmer water , calmer surf and some amenities-One of our favorites is Ridgevale Beach. There is a wonderful snackbar adjacent to the parking lot which makes a terrific lunch for a reasonable price. Chatham is small enough that you can explore all the beach areas during your stay. We went from renters to owners in Chatham because it is a wonderful place. Enjoy your stay!

We stayed at PBV last summer and are returning this summer. (In fact, we're arriving on 8/21. Perhaps we'll see you.)

Frankly, I'd say not to count on walking to the beach. Yes, technically you can walk to Pleasant Bay Beach, but it didn't look very appealing. We found it a quick (10 minutes or so?) drive to the great Chatham beaches that you read about, like Cockle Cove. The drive itself into downtown Chatham is quick, again maybe 10 minutes IIRC. It's finding parking that's a time consuming challenge.

In a perfect world, we'd be walking distance to downtown Chatham and to great beaches. In an almost perfect world, we'd be able to walk to at least one of those. In the real world, we couldn't find something that worked for us that let us walk to those places. We loved PBV and are returning for several reasons. We got a one bedroom suite. This gave us a real master bedroom and a pull out sofa in the LR for our son. We find everyone is happier with that arrangement. We also had a small full kitchen, which was very helpful at times. The pool was lovely and very warm. The staff was very nice, as were the other guests we met. Breakfast was actually good and reasonably priced, so we enjoyed what we ate and didn't feel like we were being ripped off by typical preposterous hotel food charges. On several mornings my son and I split an order of French toast and they were lovely about it, nicely plated it on 2 plates, no sharing charge. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Trying to find a 1 BR suite, much less a suite with a kitchen in town ranged from impossible (they just didn't have them) to incredibly expensive (CBI). So, all in all, I'd say you've made a good choice.

See you soon!
