stinging nettles now, in Sept.?

Hate those things. Are they seasonal or are they always around at this beach?

Thanks, if you've got the answer!

They are seasonal, but last year and this year, they have been scarce. I live on the water north of Chesapeake Beach and we have been swimming in the bay all summer long including last weekend.

That said, the salinity of the water has an impact, so there may be places on the Bay that have more or less. We are about 10 miles from Chesapeake Beach, so I hope someone will answer who has specifically been there recently. I just can't imagine that there would be a significant difference being that these locales are relatively close together.

The NOAA website has a sea nettles forecast page. Just search google for NOAA chesapeake bay sea nettles. Looks like right now they have moved higher up the bay. They were pretty bad when we were there in early July.
