Eldorado or Margaritaville ?

We're getting married in April and we're thinking of making a stop for a couple of nights in Shreveport/Bossier City. The 2 that we have narrowed it down to is Eldorado and Margaritaville. Which of the 2 would be better as far as rooms, bed comfort, gambling/payouts, food options, etc. We'll be staying in a basic room in either hotel/casino....why spend money for a room you won't be spending a lot of time in?

Any information would be greatly appreciated :)

Margaritaville is newest casino so payouts are higher. Eldorado offers room discounts Sunday - Thursday and has best rooms and is only 4-Diamond hotel in area.

While Margaritaville is nicer, Sam's town is next door to Eldorado and walkable. I have stayed at Sam's Town several times and consider it my home base when I go to Shreveport, but it's rather smokey. Is this your first time to Shreveport? There are more bars and restaurants on the Eldorado/Sam's town side of the river since you'll be in downtown. Horseshoe is next to Margaritaville, but a little bit of a walk and I would cab it especially at night. I suggest checking out that casino as it has a more "vegas vibe".

But either hotel is nice. I would avoid diamond jacks and boomtown on the other side of I-20 as they are run down.

I think the blackjack is better at El Dorado - minimums lower for longer on the table games. Like the other post said, Sams Town is right next door so you have two casinos right there. On the other side, you can't really walk between Margaritaville and Horseshoe. They're far apart and horseshoe is kind of blocked off from the whole shopping area so walking is down sidewalks on streets, not good, especially at night.

I like Margaritaville, just wish they would keep the minimums lower so I usually stay at El Dorado. Hotel rooms maybe a little better at El Dorado, too. FYI - the restaurant in Margaritaville is terrible so don't let that be a deciding factor for you either.
