You may enjoy staying downtown with restaurants, bars, museums, and great views of the River. If that's the case, then I would suggest the Hilton Capital Center or Hotel Indigo. If not, then look into Renaissance Hotel. It is more centrally located and near restaurants, Mall of Louisiana and Perkins Rowe, wonderful shopping areas. (Our former Radisson Hotel is now Crown Plaza.)

There are beaucoup choices in New Orleans but do stay in the French Quarter. The New Orleans forum will give you great recommendations. We've always loved the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon.

In New Orleans you should check for vacancies at the Royal St. Charles, or any of the hotels on Canal st...I.E. the Sheraton, the Astor, The Marriot...but not the Hilton because it's too far to walk.
