Ft. Massac State Park is in Illinois, just a short distance from Paducah. We've taken the KY-St. Louis route hundreds of times, and that's the only thing we've found - so I'll be watching this topic!

Off the interstate, but worth the trip, is Garden of the Gods. At Marion, IL, go east on Hwy 13 to Harrisburg, then south on Hwy 34. Google 'Garden of the Gods Illinois" and you should find many photos of the area. There is a relatively easy 1/4 mile walking trail (not for the handicapped though) that shows off the most magnificent rock formations. Take your camera! This area is part of the Shawnee National Forest so you can find more info on their website.

When leaving Garden of the Gods, go back the way you came but turn south (left) when you get to the stop sign at the junction of Hwy 145. Follow Hwy 145 south until you get to the stop sign. The sign will say to turn left to go to Paducah, but if you turn right you will find the interstate right there and you are almost at the Ohio river bridge at that point.

You could visit the very large Superman statue in Metropolis, IL. It ranks right up there with the world's largest catsup bottle in Collinsville, IL.

On a more serious note, Paducah is home to the National Quilt Museum. I highly recommend it. www.quiltmuseum.org/
