louisville restaurants and horse farms

Hi,

My husband and I are visiting Louisville this Wed. and Thurs. What are some good restaurants to check out? We were thinking one fancy dinner and one low-key dinner.

Also, my husband had heard about touring horse farms. Are there any near Louisville to tour? Thanks for any imput!

Here are a few suggestions. The restaurants with an asterisk have outdoor dining.

Proof on Main

Jack Fry's

Avalon*

Basa Modern Vietnamese

Volare*

Seviche*

L&N Wine Bar

Palermo Viejo*

Captain's Quarters* (huge deck overlooking the river)

Melillo's*

Ramsi's*

You'll find most of the menus for the above mentioned restaurants here:

Here are the menus not listed on the HotBytes site:

Hopefully, another forumite can help you with info on horse farm tours. You may end up having to head to Lexington. This article gives some good info on the subject: query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html…

Unfortunately I don't know of any horse farm tours in the area either but if you travel 60-75 miles east to Versailles or Lexington you will find hundreds! If you don't want to travel, another option might be the tour that Churchill Downs offers that goes "behind the scenes" on the backside of the track.
