Family Restaurant in Coralville

I realize this is the Iowa City forum however there does not appear to be very much activity for the Coralville forum.

Our family is staying at Comfort Inn in Coralville the night of June 9, 2012. We are needing a family style restaurant that can accomodate of group of 15 and a restaurant that takes reservations.

Any suggestions? Thanks fo much

I have eaten at a few Coralville restaurants, none of them are what I think of as a family restaurant. The best restaurant is Iowa River Power. They take reservations, and are a little pricy: http://www.powercompanyrestaurant.com/ Their Sports Bar, Flannigans, serves more casual food and will have TV's showing the games. They say they don't take reservations, but they might not be busy with the college term over.

I don't know if the Texas Roadhouse takes reservations. Steakhouse chain. They have been pretty packed at Sunday lunchtime: tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g37791-d16…

My family gets together at the Old Chicago in Bettendorf. The Coralville location is similar and accepts reservations. They have a large variety of beer on tap and in bottles and will have televisions playing: http://www.oldchicago.com/coralville

For a unique experience, and what I consider a family restaurant, you could try to get reservations at the Ox Yoke Inn in the Amana Colonies, 30 minutes away. http://www.oxyokeinn.com/ Their restaurant on the interstate does not sound as appealing, but might be just as good.

Also consider Mondo's Sports Cafe. Nice place, large menu.

There's also a barbecue place called Bandana's. There are several Mexican place as well.

My favorite place is Wig & Pen, but, they don't take reservations.

Red's Alehouse in North Liberty is a five minute drive away and they have excellent food. They don't take reservations, but will do call ahead seating if you call them.

I'm afraid I don't know if they take reservations, but you might also consider Okoboji Grill in North Liberty - it would be about a 10 minute drive north from your hotel. It's brand new, fairly large, and the food is good (probably the same menu as the one in Johnston, if you've eaten there).
