Nashville from Lawrenceburg

Hi! We are investigating places to go after visiting the casinos this coming Friday. Thought of staying near Lawrenceburg for one night and finding somewhere interesting to go to for Saturday before heading home to Ohio. It appears to be a 2 hour trip--is it worth the drive? Not going to hike or anything like that but enjoy quaint towns and shopping but don't have any money!

We would need to leave to make it back (North of Dayton) b4 dark. Would there be any other towns or interesting sites in Southern Indiana that would be a nice stopover?

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I will also post in Lawrenceburg forum too

Nashville is certainly a quaint little town with shopping.

I agree you estimate of 2 hours would be about right. Although the exact route could have an impact (and if anything I might but it lower). I allocate about 2.5 hours to go from Bloomington to Cincinnati (via Nashville, Columbus, Greensburg & I-74) as much (all?) of I-74 has a higher speed limit than you find on most (all?) Ohio interstates. Your Lawrenceburg to Nashville would be a little shorter, but not by a whole bunch.

As to whether, "it is worth the drive?" Sorry only you will be able to determine that (and by then it will be too late). Nashville has an arts & crafts focus and you could certainly see a great deal (if not all) of the town in just a few hours. While you said you didn't want to hike, you still might want to check out the T.C. Steele (park, memorial I forget exactly what it's called). He was one of the early nationally recognized artists in back when Nashville really was (all but solely) an artists community.

In terms of other things you might want to do in Southern Indiana (other than Bloomington, which would be a stretch given your driving time criteria) would be Madison, a little bit down the Ohio from Lawrenceburg.

Anyway, that a few quick comments/thoughts, hope they're helpful,

hlo
