History buffs, fashion buffs , and military buffs will really enjoy a tour of this home, built in 1875. The docents are excellent and the tour takes about 90 minutes to cover three floors and the carriage house. There are sweet gardens in the back of the grounds and free off-street parking. This attraction is very close to the center of town and the home of James Whitcomb Riley is a few blocks away. The tours all begin on the hour and half-hour. Don't ring the doorbell at an off time, or you will not be admitted. Senior discounts are available.
Since downtown Indy is relatively small, you will also find the Indiana Historical Society, Indiana State Museum, NCAA Museum and Eiteljorg Museums within a few city blocks of one another. It's easy to explore in a short time.
