Lilongwe-Mbeya. How long do I need and where to go?

Hello everybody!

How many days should I plan at least for the Lilongwe-Mbeya route?

What shouldn't I miss?

I was thinking 10 days should be enough to travel with the public transport, stopping along the way and visiting the highlights :-)

What do you think?

Thank you!

How long is a piece of string!

2 days if your in a hurry, two months if not! Cape Maclear is a good starting point, you may well find your 10 days used up there, some go for few days, and stay for a few months!

If you like true isolation, Zulunkhuni Lodge, http://lake-paradise.com/ Only easy access via the Ilala, Livingstonia, visit the missionary station, or catch the Ilala, and drop off where you fancy, or if your feeling lazy, do the whole trip up to Chipoka. Meet a few travellers going the other way and get the latest vibes on where is and where isn't on the lake, things change, so you need the latest info. Look on Thorntree

www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forum.jspa… where there is more info.
