Chicago METRA to Lomabrd/downtown

Fly into MidWay...stay downtown 1st night/ then out to Lombard. Any advice on how long to get from LOMABRD back to MIDWAY?

Would like METRA as much as possible, since no auto.

Also, any hints/tips about Lombard night-life. Staying @ Westin Yorktown, and most reviews are stellar?????

Just two adult (50+) women travelers.

You may want to post on the Chicago forum – a little more popular than Lombard!

One option to get from the Loop to Lombard is to take the Burlington Northern Metra to Downers Grove Main Street, then take the Pace bus (834) to Yorktown. Or you could take a cab or inquire about transportation with the Westin. The Westin is 3.5 miles from the station.

To get from the Westin to Midway, I would probably take a cab (maybe 30-40 minutes), but if this is not an option, you could get the Pace bus back to the DG train station, go back to the Loop, then get the orange line out to Midway.

The CTA’ s Trip Planner is very helpful and easy to use:

There are quite a few new restaurants in the Yorktown area. Have a good trip!

As far as Lombard to Midway - taking public transportation will take you a long time. I would definitely see if the hotel shuttle could take you, otherwise ask them for a taxi or limo recommendation.

As far as night life - there are a ton of restaurants (most with bars) that you could easily walk to. Not sure how familiar you are with Yorktown, but it's a full indoor mall & then they just added on a new outdoor part with additional shops & restaurants. Here is a website listing all of the restaurants: yorktowncenter.com/diningentertainment.aspx

Then each of their restaurants has a website to check out their menu along with wine/beer lists. Most of the restaurants in that area are very nice (more than just a family restaurant or cheap burger place). Although, Ed Debevic's is a 50's diner with obnoxious waiters. It's fun if you're into that kind of thing, but some people are put off by it.

You're also not too far from Oak Brook Mall, which has even more restaurant selections, although it's definitely not walking distance.

And one last thing, not sure if you know, but IL is now non-smoking, so any bars you go to won't be smokey.
