Evanston to Ford Performing Arts

We're staying in Evanston but taking in the Wed 2 pm Wicked matinee at the Ford Performing Arts Center. How do I get there by public transportation?

The Purple Line will take you from downtown Evanston to Howard Avenue. At Howard, transfer to the Red Line.

It will take you about 45-60 minutes to get downtown. Exit the Red Line at either Lake Street or Washington and you'll be a block either side of the theatre.

On the way back, you'll be able to take the Purple Line all the way as it runs to the Loop between 3:00 and 7:00. You can catch it either at Clark/Lake or State/Lake. So if you decide to eat dinner downtown after the show, you'd still be able to make it. If not, you can take the Red Line back to Howard and transfer there.

Citylights is referring to the CTA purple line train. Visit www.transitchicago.com for details.

There's another train line (Metra) that runs through Evanston. While Metra will get you downtown - it's not convenient to the theater.

Taking the METRA is convenient, and less time consuming - if the schedule works for you. There are busses from Ogilvie Transportation Center (the Metra station serving Evanston) to within 1 short block walk of Ford, or back).
