A hotel in the Mag Mile or River North neighborhood is best from a viditor's perspective. Many properties to choose from. Take a look at the reviews in the Chicago Hotels section of TA.

www.choosechicagocom or ideas of what to see/do here.

Check the list of dates to avoid in the right-hand column. If your travel time falls on a busy weekend, you'll need to book very early or rearrange your schedule to avoid overpaying for a hotel room. The first weekend of August has a huge rock festival in Grant Park called Lollapalooza.

Use a mapping feature like the one on hotels.com to find a hotel within a half-mile of the Michigan Avenue bridge and the river. This will give you dozens of options. For peace and quiet, however, you may want to look in the neighborhoods on the north side.

Post back with a list of candidates, and we can help with your decision.

Provide a budget and we can give more specific recommendations If Budget is not an issue I would suggest The Peninsula, or Waldorf Astoria.

the others can weigh in on the hotels, but from the sound of your post, i STRONGLY recommend planning on hiring bicycles and exploring the city, especially the lakefront areas...
