The Beach Club, Hodnett Cooper Management

We had the pleasure of staying at the Black Pearl condo. for a 2 week stay in St Simons. The Black Pearl Condo was not the problem, the management of this property is.

We were greeted by a security officer that assured us that she would be available for any problems. (noise was mentioned as one reason to call).

Imagine our surprise when we entered into the weekend of the Georgia game to find a frat party descend upon us!

Our nightly walk was confronted with a horde of college aged students dragging portable coolers full of beer, and a patrol of Police officers that assured us that the noise wouldn’t last and that the noise ordinance was 10PM.

The beach was littered with beer cans that the tide was taking out. SHOUTING and partying kept us awake until 3:30 AM when we had enough and called

the condo’s security patrol to do something about it.

The response from the staff was that it is a 20 year tradition and that it is apparently tolerated, our options were to leave!! (This from a manager who was not on site and was afforded a good night’s sleep)

Apparently, underage drinking, vandalism and breaking the law by breaking the noise ordinance are tolerated at the Beach Club.

Honesty to guest as to the tolerance that is absorb should be posted and specifically relayed to renters. In this case renters that have returned to this property for the past 10 years.

Telling guest, that “it will be busy” does not relate to what we have had to tolerate. We assumed alumni, busy restaurants, difficulty parking and traffic not out of control disruptive behavior. Finding another place to stay and leaving this condo was not a viable option and was quite frankly an insult.

Sincerely,

The Pratt/Lord Guests

why do you think they call it the world's largest outdoor cocktail party? sorry for your troubles, but what you've innocently stumpled into is a week long party, and what you are confronted with is like trying to have a quiet leisurely afternoon stroll down bourbon street in the middle of mardi gras.

I agree with your comments however the scene that we encountered at the Beach Club was not seen at neighboring condo's. Perhaps their management was better with crowd control. I must say that after our complaints and further reporting of fire alarms going off and an additional party going on next door in the early morning hours and the reports of 5-6 arrests that it died down somewhat.
