Swim attire on vero beach

Is it legal to wear a thong or g-string on vero beach?

I don't know if its against the law but you won't see many people wearing them as Vero Beach is mostly retirees or young families. The South Beach area is less crowded and a little more private, might find them there. You may have to contact the city directly or maybe a local swim suit shop or your hotel will know. I don't think you would get a fine but may be asked to cover up if it's not allowed.

I haven't spotted City regulations on beach clothing. It's a conservative area, with the barrier island having lots of affluent retirees (Mitt Romney visited recently for a fundraiser so small that people at the club scarcely noticed anything going on). The sophisticated kids of those retirees visit, and we have young European visitors.

The city's Kiwanis and Humiston beach parks are family-oriented, with lots of picnic people from the mainland. So is South Beach, but it has plenty of room to roam at its south, where most of the people you see will be from a couple of small hotel/cottage places, staying in condos, or (mostly) affluent local residents. The Tracking Station County Park just north of town is also less busy.

For women, bikinis are the thing. I have rarely seen anything skimpier. For a sense of non-conservative upscale local fashion (but not swimwear), check Bliss Boutique's Facebook page. More in the wealthy mainstream would be The Beach Shop

And of course there's a Lilly Pulitzer store.

On the male side, board shorts are utterly dominant. You will occasionally see Speedos on international visitors. Concerns about skin cancer have made long-sleeve tee shirts popular with the offshore fishing types, and they've become fashion items (as in Guy Harvey or Salt Life at Beall's). Rashguards are popular with surfers. The Deep Six dive shop website gives some idea of local taste:
