Looking for advice on Tampa

Will be in Tampa Feb 14 to 17, then boarding a cruise ship on the 18th.

We'd like to enjoy a beach and do some sightseeing. Which part of Tampa should we stay in? Any recs. on a condo/hotel with a beach nearby?

1. Re: Looking for advice on Tampa

The only beaches in Tampa are on the Bay. Hotels to choose would be Sailport Suites or Holiday Inn Express both on Rocky Point and on the Bay Beaches, and about 5 miles(10 minutes) from the Port and Downtown Tampa. About 25 minutes to Clearwater and Gulf Beaches.

You could also stay downtown Tampa at the Marriott Waterside(next to the port), and enjoy a streetcar to take you to Historic Ybor City,Channelside(Florida Aquarium, USS Victory and Duck Tours), and downtown(HB PLant Museum, Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa Bay History Museum, Tampa Theater), with a connector to SOHO and Hyde Park districts(great restaurants in SOHO and shopping at Olde Hyde Park Village.)

Will you have a car?

Busch Gardens, Museum of Science and Industry is about 10 miles north of downtown Tampa.

Since its Valentines Day, you could also spend a few days on the Guld Beaches which are about a 25-30 minute drive from Tampa. Check Pass-A-Grille and St. Pete Beach(Inn on the Beach or Don Cesar Resort). www.floridasbeach.com

I hope this Helps!
