Back to Tallahassee afer 20 years!!

Having lived in Tallahassee in the mid 90's, I find myself returning for the first time in many years, for the hurricane Irma charity gig. I have vague recollections of an out of town bar/club/karaoke place revolving around country music. As it is my wife's first visit to the area, can anyone recommend a place to go that may seem similar within 20 miles of Tallahassee?

We are starved of country music in the UK and something authentic, even in the smallest town, in Florida or Georgia, would be fantastic.

Any suggestions welcome.........

I havent been to Tallahassee recently, my son went to school there years ago and I dont recall any country bars back then. However a google search came up with this one . http://www.bullwinklessaloon.com/ and if you google it there was a couple others listed. However they all look like they are located close to the FSU and will most likely be a younger crowd. Also todays country music is almost rock, its not the good old 2-step they used to do and what I remember as a younger person. You missed the Party in the Pines country music festival last month. That had Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, etc all playing. Also look at visittallahassee.com for more info on local things to do. And check the local newspaper. Here is a list of places in Georgia: …buckitdream.com/2017/…

The Moon offers a small venue with big acts. If you

Like Blues then you can check out Bradfordville Blues Club (I'm thinking that is what you are referring to and it has changed hands and offers outstanding Blues acts). The Centre of Tallahassee (use to be the Tallahassee Mall) has been reconstructed and is now a concert venue. They host a variety of concerts. Cascades Park is an outdoor venue near the Capital and has concerts featuring various artists. The great thing about this venue is that you can sit in the cheap seats for free- bring a picnic and enjoy the concert (ZZ Top is performing soon). Smaller venues in mid town offer all kinds of music and fun (a free trolley from College Town runs seasonally to the bars and restaurants in Mid Town- ask your hotel where to pick it up). There are local bands playing various gigs all over town in restaurants and bars. Your best listing is The Tallahassee Demovrat's Limelight printed each Friday that lists all of the concerts and goings on. Tennessee Street ain't the spot it use to be. Tallahassee has changed - for the better- so much in the last 25 years I think you are in for a surprise. It's a much bigger city now but maintains its sleepy bedroom community feel. I think you will enjoy College Town which is near the Tucker Center. It's based on a development at the University of Michigan and the sad area of Gadsden Street and St. Augustine Street has gone upscale with bars, shops, restaurants, and expensive student housing. You will have a hard time choosing what to do while you're here. Enjoy the concert- that was one hard ticket to get!
