good resturants for seafood

Hi,

We will be staying at Siesta Key in April and will have a vehicle and be traveling around to different areas. We are looking for good places to eat seafood........suggestions?

Last year we ate at the Capt's ......resturant on Siesta Key and frankly were quite disappointed. The food was expensive and not that great so we'd like to try some other places this year.

thanks for your help.

Ah, yes the MN Art teacher!

Seafood:

Bonefish Grill-Sarasota

Barnacle Bills- Sarasota

The Crows Nest- Venice

Drydock Waterfront Grill- Longboat Key

Spanish Point Marina and Pub- Osprey

Phillip Creek Oyster Bar- Sarasota (touristy but fun)

Do you want upscale?

Ahhhhhh SRQ Girl I hoped you would answer! I wondered why you wrote MN Art Teacher but it is probably because I've asked so many questions or goofed up the website I posted. :o(

Anyway here is the deal..........this year we are taking my daughter, her husband and children to Siesta Key. She is dying for some good seafood and of course who could resist in a setting like this! So we are not looking for a place where we have to dress up or anything just want good food and a place where flip flops are the acceptable form of dress. :o)

Also SRQ Girl you posted that you worked at a historic place. Can you tell us a little more about the place. We are putting together possiblities of things we can do. Of course going to the wonderful beach on Siesta Key is top on our list!

thanks!

Aaaaah, MN,

How old are the parents and how old are the grandkids?

I will furnish flip-flop friendly places.. most places in town are casual....People wear shorts in many places.

MN,

The list I posted will be flip-flop friendly. All have kid friendy staff and little people chairs etc. (These are the places I go).

Some other options for kids with OK food are the Old Salty Dog on Siesta Key and Turtles Restaurant on the south end of Siesta.

There is also the Lobster Pot in Siesta Village.

I am a volunteer docent at Historic Spanish Point in Osprey.

It is a 30 acre environmental preserve on Sarasota Bay, with history dating back 5,000 years. It is a very special place.

The museum site has shell mounds (middens) and homes from the Pioneer era (1870s). One of the middens is an exhibit you can walk into with a video narrration. It was the FL home of Bertha Palmer, a Chicago socialite, from 1910-1918. The 2 hour tour is along paths surrounded by beautiful foliage. (Some critters as well)

There is a footbredge where you can see oyster beds and fish.

The tour would probably be best for kids that were older.

You, however, would find it special.
