Proper attire for more upscale restaurants

For more upscale restaurants like Ophelia's, Maximo's, Blase Cafe etc...would a guy be ok in nice shorts, leather sandals and a nice collered polo style shirt? Or should I pack some dress slacks and dress shoes? Just wondering...most east coast beach resorts I've been to (OC Maryland, Myrtle Beach, OBX etc) are ok with casual attire despite the pricetag, but I've never been to a Florida beach resort so this is new to me. Please advise so I know what to pack f(or not bother packing), we're leaving next Monday morning. Thanks!

Nice shorts and a collared shirt are fine. It is summer here... hot and humid. Be comfortable. No need for dress shoes...heaven forbid! Think Jimmy Buffet attire...(tropical shirts you can buy here...)

Maximos, Blase Cafe etc. in the Village are very nice, but not what I consider "upscale".

Thanks. We're a family of parrothead (got the kids hooked on Buffett as well) so we'll fit right in. I'll leave the dress clothes at home.
