Supposed to arrive this weekend, what about ISAAC?

First family trip to 30A. Should I try and cancel given the potential of a hurricane or at the very best, thunderstorms?

Are you tracking Isaac on the National Hurricane Center website? See www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/090404.shtml?5-daynl#contents . There are a number of threads here asking the same question, and, as of now, you do have reason to be concerned.

The current prediction is that Isaac will develop hurricane-force winds and will make landfall right around FWB or PCB around Tuesday, so your area would be directly involved. However, the storm's direction has been subtly shifting further west, and it is too early to tell exactly where it will hit. Even if there is not a direct hit, it appears that the weather in that area will be impacted mid-week with (as you said) a hurricane at the worst, and heavy rain and possible tornados at the best. Remember that Isaac will eventually begin to turn east again, especially after landfall, so there could be some residual storms even if it hits farther west.

As to cancellation, that depends on your interest and flexibility to cancel versus reschedule and your contract. Normally, you will have greater leeway if the storm is worse ("act of God") and there is some kind of evacuation than if it is just a "rainy weather" situation.
