When are you planning to visit and how much do you want to spend per night???

There are many places to stay, but not many full service hotels...

The Ritz Carlton is very nice..

The Resort on Longboat Key is a nice place to stay. It is by the beach and has tennis, golf a spa, dining etc.

There are reviews on the Longboat Key TA page under "Hotels".

You would not be too far from St. Armands Circle for shopping/dining.

When looking at rates there is also a "resort fee".

The Longboat Key Club (Resort on Longboat Key) is an outstanding place to stay, 4-star resort with many amenities as mentioned by SRQgirl. Golf actually includes two courses on-site; tennis actually includes a stadium which hosts major tournaments; 4 or 5 restaurants, etc. And it is right on the beach. You won't be bored. No other place comes as close. Perhaps the closest rival would be the Ritz-Carlton. The Ritz is located downtown and provides shuttles to its beautiful Beach Club on nearby Lido Key where there is a restaurant, cabanas, etc. Of course there are pools, restaurant, spa at the downtown Ritz as well. And also a world-class golf course several miles away exclusively for members and Ritz guests. Dropping down a notch (or more), there is a Hyatt downtown, Lido Beach Resort on Lido Key, etc. But if you're looking for a special place and it fits in your budget, head for the Longboat Key Club.
