Sarasota Christmas Day lunch or dinner?

We are staying in the Sarasota area over Christmas. We would like to find a nice place for a Christmas Day lunch or dinner but are struggling.

Does anyone have a good recommendation?

actually staying in the Englewood area, so anywhere in the Sarasota area would be fine.

I know that Mattison's 41 will be open

Many places have shortened hours on Christmas Day or are not open at all.

Sarasota is a long way to drive if you want some wine or champagne with your meal. 45m-1 hour. Pt C would be closer is some of the places there are open (and they have quote af ew chains from outback to Carrabbas to Applesbees and some might be open).

Have a look at some of the golf club restaurants like Boca Royale to see if they are doing something- some have tickets buffets. Rum bay and Leverocks may be open (as they serve a resort). Some on Gasparilla might be open for the same reason.

If nothing close by, I would check Venice restaurants- sharkeys would be fun if they are open.

If you are looking for something more upscale, Vernon at the Ritz Carlton is the top end.

There are places on St. Armands Circle such as the Columbia etc.

Roessler's on US 41/Vamo Rd. was open in the past and is good.

Ophelia's on the Bay is on Siesta Key (water view) and was open last year.

If you are going to limit alcohol consumption to 1 or 2 glasses, it shouldn't be a problem...or use a DD.

Depends on the type of dining you are looking for.

I am also a very big fan of Roessler's. You'll want to make a reservation as they are almost always crowded on special holidays. Delicious food in a quiet, upscale atmosphere. It's probably one of the closest to you of all the restaurants suggested thus far.

Here in SE Spain we will be having smoked salmon and prawns in paprika mayonnaise to start, followed by medium-rare roast beef with roast potatoes [roasted in goose fat] with whatever vegetables the local market has to offer, accompanied by 2 or 3 bottles of Faustino V. If you are in the area you are welcome to drop in, but please bring a couple of bottles with you!

Wherever you end up eating, have a Merry Christmas!

{PS we eat about 3:00 in the afternoon - hope that is OK with you}

Hard to say right now. You might want to ask again closer to the holidays.

Some places close early on Christmas night.

There are places on this thread that were recommended from last year..most do not have music.. You would have a better chance on Christmas Eve for that.
