Red Tide at Lido Beach

Has it improved in the last month at all. I check reports constantly but hoping to come end of March. I'm a water person and if I can't go in the water, prefer not to go to the beach, esp if hot out.

I don’t think there has been any red tide in SW Florida in the last month. Anywhere.

That said, no one can predict what the end of the month could bring.

That's weird because when I check mote marine report, 1 day it's there and 1 day it's not (very inconsistent). A few weeks ago, there were definitely issues along the west coast.

Oops, my bad. I went back and checked the reports, there are a very few reports of low and background amounts over the past month or so. Even one report of medium, but, I don’t recall where.

If the reports stay like that, I wouldn’t worry about it.

The water was clear yesterday when I was there.

What you may have been seeing reported is "red drift", this is very different than red tide:

There has been no red tide in St. Pete Beach since the very beginning of December.

You may be right and I'm confusing the two. Does this mean it's safe to go in the water if there's red drift.
