lol - kh - No. I could only afford to live on Sanibel if I win the lottery, which would mean I'd have to remember to buy tickets, which I never do. Have been vacationing there off and on for about 20 years and I do love it and St John in the USVI's more than others islands I've to. Anguilla is third and the Big Island of Hawaii fourth.

Sue2ms and rainstorm live there. Both work for VIP and Sue also works part time at Waterside Inn. Her family was involved in the design of a number of the condos there. Her dad was an architect. Now THAT's a Sanibel resident.

It is one of my favorite spots and my favorite month to be there is October. I usually stay up on Captiva these days, but saw a nice cottage on Buttonwood that really appealed. Unfortunately it isn't available the only dates I have this year - and the houses on Captiva I like don't have internet, which is becoming a must for me and many others. The houses have cable, get the owners to buy a wireless router for wi-fi!

Take note Sue and rainstorm. With a 1 month rental on Sanibel, the availability of internet is IMPORTANT!

I have been down in the summer a number of times, usually July. I like the Santiva area a lot. Heard next year they'll be doing work to re-open Blind Pass - just a narrow channel as they can't disturb some of the newly formed islands over there on the bayside. I stayed at a house near the pass when it was open. Now you can't even really use the dock there. Possibly one of the few places that LOST value on Captiva between sales.

I have found that once you cross the bridge and start staying on Captiva, other than Blind Pass and the Lighthouse, I only go to Sanibel to shop and putz around a bit. But I always seem to get visitors while I'm down and end up showing them everything. Funny how different the two islands are, yet so much alike.

By the way - read some of the info on TA's pages. I'm just leaving it alone. There are some directional mistakes that crack me up - including the fact the Captiva is SOUTH of Sanibel and Sanibel is EAST of the airport. [I've tried twice to get that south thing fixed and 5 months later it's still there. SIGH!] Apparently the folks they hired have trouble with maps 101. Feel free to change or add info on the inside pages. But don't get attached. TA has editors that change things. Sometimes adding errors. Keep you sense of humor here. It's all 'business' no chat - or you get deleted. OTC [Off-topic chatter] is TA's chat area for non-travel stuff. I'm there off and on - but so are trolls. No trolls on BOSC.

Something funny is going on when I try to log in at bosc. After three attemps a message saying that after three failed attempts I can't try again for 5 mins.

Check your caps lock and make sure you're not accidentially typing in the wrong case. That's what always happens with me. Most sites allow 3 tries and them lock you out. It's to prevent password guessing or hacker types. BOSC was seriously hacked a short time back and Kim and her computer wiz just finished undoing the damage.

I logged in no problem. If after 2 tries it won't work, hit the forgot password option and reset your password. Or write kim@bestofsanibelcaptiva.com and let her know. As the site mod she can help. If all else fails, re-register.

No, not at all. I have no home or business on Sanibel or anywhere in FL. I live in the Northeast and just vacation there frequently. Business often takes me to FL, but usually for meetings. I have no customers there. My work, thankfully, has nothing at all to do with traveling. It is heavily regulated and I do deal with various government agencies. lol That's about as exciting as it gets. Wish I could get paid to shell on Sanibel!
